Eating disorders and the role of the media
Youth STEMM Participant Samantha has been researching the stats about eating disorders and shares her thoughts on the role played by mainstream and social media.

Young people (aged 11-19) can register to work towards a Bronze, Silver or Gold level Award by undertaking STEMM-based activities at school, at home or online. They log the hours spent on each activity, along with a description of what they learnt to their personal YSA digital portfolio. On completion, they will receive a digital badge, a medal and certificate and can add Youth STEMM Award holder to their CV and select it as an option on the UCAS University application form.
The Youth STEMM Award provides a framework to add impact to otherwise one-off activities. Participants take part in more activities than they normally would and reflect on their skill development while building confidence and a record of achievement. Running the Youth STEMM Award in your school or college is a great way to raise the numbers and diversity of young people going into STEMM careers and further training.
“The YSA is likely the experience which changed my idea of what I wanted to do in the future & empowered me to think that I could pursue a career in STEMM. It’s an incredible programme & I recommend it so much!” Student feedback
